I’m Junie and I am for sure a lucky dog! I would first like to thank the kind humans who adopt senior dogs. Without my mom and dad and their love for Labradors and seniors like myself, I’m not sure where I would be.
All I remember is one day, I was wondering around in Hollywood – not the glamorous version of Hollywood I see on TV – but the country version. I was lost and looking for a hamburger. The next thing I knew I was taken to Charleston Animal Shelter and put in a not-Junie size cage (I’m a big girl). I was there for what felt like years but my mom said it was only a few months. I was cramped and very confused but then one day, I met my mom.
When my mom and dad brought me home, I didn’t know what was happening.
I had never seen the beach or the ocean. I definitely had not seen so many other dogs running around so happy. I thought they were after me, but they wanted to do this thing humans call “playing.” Where was I? Had I died and gone to heaven?
Now I say “hello” to everyone when I walk with my mom on the beach. I’ve started to enjoy the pool and I have friends! I don’t swim yet but my mom and dad tell me I’m swimming when I’m on the floor, doing what they call a “breast stroke” with my paws. I’m just trying to get belly scratches, but they laugh so I keep doing it. I want them to be happy because they have made me so happy.
